Foundations

The foundations of the Passiv Haus have to be very well insulated in order to prevent heat loss.

The floor slab has 200mm of polystyrene insulation with perimeter insulation all around the slab 50mm thick and extending down into the ground 1 metre.  The DPC is extended above the slab and will be taped to the internal membrane of the timber frame to make an airtight seal.
