Ecohomes is an environmental assessment method for housing which gives a rating for new build and refurbishment projects by considering such issues as energy, public transport links, materials used, ecological factors, daylighting and construction site impacts. The aim is to build environmentally sensitive housing that is healthy and desirable. In Wales all new housing that receives funding from the Wales Assembly Government must receive an Ecohomes "Excellent' rating, and some private developers are choosing this system to build houses of a better environmental standard than specified by Building Regulations. Buildings for Tomorrow can carry out Ecohomes Assessments as well as giving advice on ways to achieve the rating desired. We can also provide renewable energy feasibility studies, looking at the possible ways to integrate photovoltaics, solar water heating, heat pumps, biomass heating, wind power etc into a development.
