Water conservation and products
In the UK we use 150 litres of water per person per day, but we drink only 2 litres, yet all of the water we use in our buildings is potable (drinkable). This processing requires huge amount of infrastructure and energy. With rain being freely available it would make sense to collect it for non-drinking uses (grey water), this will reduce dependency on mains water and save money if large scale water metering comes into affect. Collection can be done by simple measures like installing a waterbutt or by larger scale methods called SUDS - Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems.
